First Impressions: The Key to My Game Reviews

Diving into new games with my trusty controller and expansive library

When it comes to games, first impressions are everything. As a gamer who dives into numerous titles, I place significant importance on those initial moments of gameplay. The reason is simple: if a game doesn't capture my interest right from the start, I rarely find the motivation to return to it. This approach drives my focus on first impressions in my reviews.

I believe that the first few hours with a game can tell you a lot about its overall quality. Whether it's the graphics, gameplay mechanics, story, or overall feel, these early experiences set the tone for what’s to come. Many times, I’ll start a game, and if those initial moments don’t impress, I never go back. It’s not that I don’t acknowledge the potential for games to improve over time through patches and updates. Rather, it's about the reality of my gaming schedule.

I play a lot of games, and my time is limited. Returning to a title that failed to engage me initially often takes a back seat to exploring new games that might offer a better first impression.

Therefore, my reviews are based on these initial experiences. I share my thoughts on how a game presents itself right out of the gate because I know that for many gamers, those first impressions can be a deal-breaker. So, when you read my reviews, know that they are a reflection of that critical first encounter with a game – an encounter that, for better or worse, shapes my lasting impression.
